Fundraising Campaign 2019

As many of you know, this organization has largely relied on unpaid labour. Our amazing team over the years has worked to support students across so-called Canada, create tools, and advocate at the provincial and federal levels almost entirely on a volunteer basis. The small amounts of funding we have received from other student groups over the years has largely gone towards graphics and translation in order to make our work accessible. This year, at our AGM, we made the decision to make paying our team as close to a living wage as possible for their labour in order to take a stance against the neoliberal culture which invisibilizes and underpays this gendered (and racialized, and classed) labour both on our campuses and in our communities. A culture that also has many grants that explicitly say they cannot be used to pay labour. We are launching our campaign with the 16 days of activism against gender-based violence in order to tie in that violence against women is INEXTRICABLY linked to neoliberal, carceral, and racial capitalism in this country.

So! We are asking our community to help us break this cycle and fund the amazing work that this organization, and the people within it, are doing everyday!

Know of a fund or grant on your campus we could apply for? Let us know!
