Our Mission

Students for Consent Culture Canada is a national student-led organization working to end campus sexual violence by building a network between student unions, community organizations, and other advocates. We take an anti-oppressive, intersectional, survivor-centric approach to addressing campus sexual violence.

We approach our work with the following guiding principles at the forefront: solidarity, transparency, intersectionality, and consensus-based decision-making.

On April 3rd, Students for Consent Culture released the OurTurn One Year Later Report memorializing and celebrating the impacts of the OurTurn National Action Plan. Read the report here.

Québec – Bill 151 Implementation Guide

In 2017 the government of Québec passed Bill 151 mandating all campuses to create campus sexual violence policies. Unfortunately, although the legislation looked great politically, the weak and vague requirements did little to support activists at the grassroots level advocating at institutions such as Concordia, McGill, and UQO.

In response to our genuine disappointment with the Québec government, Students for Consent Culture and AVEQ teamed up to write a guideline to support student activists and survivors on campuses to advocate for survivor-centric policies as their institutions create them this year.

Our Focus

Overseen by the Director of Advocacy with the immense support of the Advocacy Coordinators, advocacy at SFCC spans three levels–campus, provincial, and federal. This department takes the research done by the SFCC Department of Education and uses it to support its mobilization and push for change at all three levels.

Campus | Provincial | Federal |

Overseen by the Director of Outreach, with the support of Mobilization, Communications, and other Coordinators, the Department of Outreach is responsible for mobilization and facilitating the network of connections between student groups and other organizations. This includes the work of “grading” sexual violence policies in collaboration with post-secondary schools.

Overseen by the Director of Education with the immense support of the Coordinators, Education within SFCC includes upkeep of our online resources for folks to access, the development of trainings, popular education materials, and our Research teams.
